1. I still haven't got a tattoo, even though I've been thinking about getting one for years. I've been drawing sketches for my tattoo, but they're still far from what I want.
2. Thanks to henna, I haven't seen much of my natural hair colour during the past 12 years. It's some mousey dark blond / light brown, rather boring, and there are more and more white hairs since I hit 30.
3. I still think Jennifer Connelly is the most beautiful actress ever. And the first time I noticed her was in Labyrinth with David Bowie - she was 15 or 16 back then and already HOT.
4. I use Windoze only for games, and I have only recently switched from 2000 to XP, due to the fact that there aren't any newer hardware drivers for 2k. I do all the real work under Linux, well, not only the work, but I also play lots of Linux games, and run Windoze programs under Wine if possible, and in a virtual QEMU machine running Win2k if not. Only Windoze games need so much ressources and direct hardware access that I need to shut down Linux and boot into XP. Besides, my laptop is a Mac - an old PowerBook G4, which won't even run Windoze.
5. Ever since I moved into this tall concrete tower, I've been taking lots of photographs of the sky and of the cityscape below. Many of them are in my Flickr gallery, I might choose one or two for my dA some time soon.
6. I have 12 piercings in my body right now, if you count my earrings (4 in each lobe). One is in my nostril, the other three are under my clothing...
7. I really like tricorne hats. And ruffled shirts. And all that 18th century Rococo stuff.
8. I am eating a Strammer Max right now - a slice of bread, buttered, with thin sliced ham and fried eggs on top.

I happen to be very fond of fractals. Computer science major.

I only discovered programming in my second year at Uni (it was actually the first year of a Chemistry degree course because I restarted the first year after dropping out the first time). We had to do basic as a subsidiary subject and when given the manual I read and followed the whole thing in around 45 mins and immediately decided I should be doing Computer Science instead of Chemistry. Unfortunately that made me a 2-time drop out and Computer Science study openings where extremely popular (around 1982) so I ended up settling for doing an HND course in "Maths, Statistics and Computing". At the same time I borrowed a Commodore Pet to work on at home, then progressed to a Dragon 32 (Commodore128, SinclairQL, One of those Japanese ones where Sony/Toshiba etc. made them all compatible - I forget the name, Atari ST, Amiga, PC, and Mac at work (soon at home too)). In the end I didn't finish the HND course because I learned more about programming working at home than I did on the course - and I really, really wasn't interested in learning COBOL !!
As to fractals - I found Fractint in April 1999 and haven't looked back since - my first project was my own assembly code Fractal Software "MMFrac" for 32-bit DOS but I sort of gave up developing that when I discovered Ultra Fractal (I was considering creating a Windows version of MMFrac but decided not to bother).

My first computer was a PC with VGA graphics and DOS 4.01 back in 1990. I was 15 back then, and I had read about fractals, so I asked my maths teacher if we could code some fractal programs in the school's computer lab. Shortly afterwards, I discovered one of the early versions of FractInt and started playing around with it, which was a lot of fun.

I think what the fractal world needs now is something like good old FractInt in 3-D...

The closest thing to Fractint (i.e. fairly comprehensive fractal freeware) is ChaosPro which can do most things that Ultra Fractal can *but* is not 100% stable.
